T-SHIRTS

T-shirts boast a remarkable history. The first t-shirt was actually the top half of a man's union suit, cut off just above the waist, long enough to tuck into his trousers. Soon after, t-shirts were manufactured much as they are today, but worn mostly by miners, field workers, and other laborers.

In 1942, Life Magazine featured one of the first-ever silk-screened T-shirts on its cover, depicting a soldier in gunnery school with the United States Army Air Corps.

A decade later, Marlon Brando single-handedly vaulted the humble t-shirt to the hight of acceptable men's fashion in 1951, when movie screens across America featured him clad in a simple white t-shirt in a picture called "A Street Car Named Desire."

The rest, as they say, is history.
